High-demand ticket sales create extreme concurrency pressure. Traditional systems oversell when concurrent requests race to the same inventory. Inventory & Holds uses optimistic locking at the database level to guarantee exactly-once reservation.

- Atomic reservation: all-or-nothing seat selection
- Hold TTL with automatic expiry, default 15 minutes
- Background job sweeps expired holds every minute
- Idempotency keys prevent duplicate hold creation
